– After Trump became president, I thought that a light in the tunnel finally appeared. And here we had a very good, significant and honest meeting in Alaska – said Putin, referring to the last week's peak in Anchorage.
– The next steps now depend on the leadership of the United States, but I am convinced that the leadership features of President Trump are a good guarantee of restoration of relationships – said Putin during a visit to the nuclear center.
Putin said that Russia discusses the possibility of cooperation with the United States in the Arctic and Alaska, although he did not provide details. He only stated that there are “huge” mineral deposits in the region and added that the Russian company Novatek, which produces liquefied natural gas, is already operating there.
– We talk to American partners about the possibility of cooperation in this area. And not only in our Arctic Zone, but also in Alaska. Nobody except us has the technologies we have today. And this is interested in our partners, including those from the United States – he noted.
