Superliga: FCSB transferred Mamadou Thiam from the University of Cluj

The FCSB football team transferred to the Senegalese striker Mamadou Thiam from the University of Cluj, the Ardelean club announced on Wednesday evening, on its official website, according to Agerpres.

“FC University of Cluj and FCSB have reached an agreement on the defining transfer of the footballer Andrei Gheorghiță (23 years), who signed a three -year contract with our club. The transaction has a financial component and includes the passage of Mamadou Thiam (30 years) to the Bucharest team. For one million euros, an amount that had been evaluated by FCSB a week ago, “says” U “in the statement.

Gheorghiță, a former player at FC Bihor and Poli Iași, debuted in the Europa League for FCSB, and has already checked the first appearance in the “Red Heps” shirt in the Victoria in Constanța, with Lighthouse (1-0), where it was not only through the decisive pass delivered to Mikanovic, but also through a “complete evolution, as well as”.

Born in Bucharest on July 16, 2002, Andrei Gheorghiță divided his junior period between five local teams and from the neighboring areas: Student Sport, Royal Sport Bucharest, Concordia Chiajna, Sport Team Bucharest and Academica Clinceni. Subsequently, he made the transition to CAO 1910 Oradea, for which he debuted in the third league, in the 2021-2022 season, following the end of the season to be transferred by another formation of the third echelon, FC Bihor.

In the summer of 2023, Gheorghiță made the step directly at the first league, where he debuted for Poli Iași in a match with CFR from the inaugural round of season 2023-2024. On September 18, 2023, he scored his first goal in Superliga, in a match with FC Botosani (1-1). In that onset season, the band player who can evolve and the central striker has totaled 29 presence for Poli Iași, managing to mark twice and contribute with a decisive pass.

Gheorghiță continued to be highlighted by his evolutions from Poli Iași, scored three goals and delivered three assists in the first part of the previous season, and this attracted the attention of FCSB.

In the champion's shirt in the title, he evolved 45 minutes in the superligation victory with Sepsi, because, on February 13, introduced at the break with PAOK in the sixteenth Europa League, to score the void of the FCSB (2-1).

By the end of the season, Gheorghiță reached 12 matches in all competitions and passed the title of champion of Romania. Before reaching “U”, Gheorghiță checked three games for FCSB and this beginning of competition, two in Superliga and one in the Champions League preliminaries.

Gheorghiță evolved in two friendly parties for the Romanian U21 national, against Portugal (1-0) and the Netherlands (0-2).

The Senegalese Mamadou Thiam arrived for the first time in Cluj in the autumn of 2022, after evolving for teams such as Dijon, Clermont Foot, Barnsley, Nancy or Oostemande. In the season 2022-2023, he evolved in 33 matches in all competitions, managing to score 11 times, once in the victory against his future team, FCSB, 2-1 in October 2022.

In the summer of 2023, the striker took the step to Al-Arabi, in Kuwait, after which he played for Al Jabalain, in Saudi Arabia, before returning to “U” before the start of season 2024-2025. In the season that brought the University to qualify in the play-off and, later, in the European Cups, Mamadou Thiam gathered 38 presence, marking nine times and contributing with six other decisive passes.

In this start of the season, Thiam evolved in seven games in the “U” shirt and managed to score in the matches with Metaloglobus (4-1) and Hermannstadt (2-2). In total, the attack player has evolved in two different periods for “U” and contributed with 22 goals and eight decisive passes in 78 matches.
