The passing week brought further, slight declines of the average retail fuel prices in Poland. Despite this, the rates at the distributors are still average higher than they were in mid -June. This does not apply to autogas, which was tanked the cheapest since the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

In the penultimate week of August, PB95 was paid for an average of PB95 gasoline PLN 5.80i.e. three grosze less than a week ago – according to BM Reflex data. Diesel cost on average 5.93 PLN/lso 4 grosze per liter less than last week. To the level PLN 2.66/l (i.e. -1 gr/l) The average retail price of autogas has decreased. This is the lowest average LPG price since February 2022.

At the same time, we write about average prices in the whole country. Prices at individual stations may vary by up to several dozen pennies per liter, depending on the location and strength of local competition.
The eighth week of decline in average retail prices is behind us. But we still refuel both PB95 and it on average more than in mid -June – 7 gr/l and 23 gr/l, respectively. This shows how the retail price reaction was to the decline in wholesale prices, which in mid -July returned to the level before the holidays.
However, it is cheaper than a year ago. PB95 gasoline costs on average 51 gr/l less than 12 months ago. The average retail price of diesel has decreased by 23 gr/l. We refuel autogas by 17 gr/l cheaper than a year ago.

Fuel prices could be lower
On August 22, Orlen offered Eurosuper 95 gasoline 4473 PLN/m3, i.e. 5.50 PLN/l after adding 23% VAT (excise duty, fuel fee and other parapodatki are already included in the wholesale price). It is 30 gr/l below the average retail price. So there is at least a space of several grades to decline the latter.
Similarly – even if not more – the discount could be expected in the case of diesel, which in the Friday price list of Płock refinery was at a price of PLN 4571/m3, i.e. about PLN 5.62/l after ovathing. This state of affairs implies a retail margin of 32 gr/l, which is a result of 50% higher than the historical average.
As usual, it is worth recalling that fuels could be much cheaper were it not for the taxes imposed by the authorities. From each liter of gasoline or diesel, over 50% of the state goes into the hands of the state. Without tribute to the government, we could refuel PB95 gasoline around PLN 2.60, diesel oil around PLN 2.80.
