“They called yesterday”Trump said. “Iran called to negotiate.”

“Iran's leaders want to negotiate,” he continued. “I think they are tired of being beaten by the United States. Iran wants to negotiate with us.”

Trump's remarks come days after the president told reporters that if Tehran resorted to serious violence against protesters, the US would “involves”, writes News.

President Donald Trump also stated that his administration is monitoring the protests in Iran and continues to evaluate possible military options.

“There seem to be people killed who shouldn't have been killed. These are violent, if we can call them leaders. I don't know if their leaders are fair; they rule by violence, but we are looking at the situation very seriously.”Trump told reporters.

“The military is analyzing the situation, and we are considering very strong options. We will make a decision.”

CNN previously reported that Trump is considering a number of possible military options in Iran and that in recent days he has been briefed on various intervention plans.

Trump also said that his administration could discuss with Elon Musk the possibility of giving Iranians access to Starlink, the billionaire's satellite Internet service.

Asked how the United States would react if Iran struck American military bases, Trump replied: “We're going to hit them at levels they've never been hit before.”

CNN previously reported that there are concerns within the administration that military strikes could backfire and undermine the protests. Officials said there were fears that such strikes could have the unintended effect of mobilizing the Iranian population in support of the government or prompting Iran to retaliate with military force.
