The budget of the Bolojan government, contested from within the PNL. Thuma: “Obviously he doesn't like me/ No need for kamikaze pilots”
The President of the Ilfov Regional Council, Hubert Thuma (PNL), declared himself dissatisfied with the way the Government developed the 2026 budget project, encouraging the Ilfov parliamentarians to submit amendments to the project.
Hubert Thuma said that he should have been invited to a discussion on an integrated budget of the Capital and Ilfov County, a discussion that never took place.

President CJ Ilfov claims that the county he leads receives too little from the broken down VAT quotas since many Ilfov residents pay taxes in Bucharest.
“Obviously, the budget formula does not satisfy me. 130,000 residents of Ilfov pay tax in Bucharest – in documents 1.2 billion lei (relative to the actual number of inhabitants – almost 3 billion lei). The big taxpayers paid VAT of 1.3 billion euros, of which 900,000 euros were returned to the County Council. And 1 million tons of waste from Bucharest reach Ilfov every year. Very transparently, I said what Ilfov's expectations are. As almost 2 billion were found for the General City Hall of the Capital, it was possible to find at least 5% of the broken down quotas collected by the Municipality of Bucharest for the one million inhabitants of Ilfov”, said Hubert Thuma, in a post on Facebook.
He claims that there is a need to amend the project in Parliament so that the interests of local communities are protected.
“I encourage the parliamentarians from Ilfov, regardless of party, even more so those from PNL, to initiate amendments to the budget for the benefit of our communities. It is a democratic and natural procedure”, said Thuma
I think that, in this period, we need responsibility, not kamikaze pilots.

Thuma is the leader of the anti-Bolojan faction of the PNL and accused the president of the political formation in early February of “USR-izing” the party and of deliberately undermining liberal candidates in the 2024 and 2025 presidential elections.
Thuma also said that Bolojan was part of a plan that made the presidential candidates Ciucă and Antonescu vulnerable.
More precisely, Thuma claimed that the polls prior to the presidential elections in 2024 showed that Nicolae Ciucă could not win the electoral race, so it was proposed to Ilie Bolojan to run for him. However, he not only did not want to, but also made unreasonable proposals for the PNL.
Then, in the presidential elections of 2025, Bolojan did not publicly deny for months, Thuma reproaches him, that he will be the PNL candidate. All this was premeditated, says Thuma.
