US President Donald Trump met with sharp criticism in Washington, both from the Democrats and Republicans, because of his attitude during the Friday summit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska – the British daily “Financial Times” said on Saturday.

American politicians were particularly critical of the fact that Trump did not meet the threats he announced about “severe consequences” if the Russian leader disagrees with the suspension of weapons in Ukraine.
As “FT” noted, even in some kind of the President of the USA, the US president was disappointed for taking Putin in Alaska as an honorary guest on the red carpet. The daily emphasized that this did not bring any visible results.
Quoted by Gazeta Lindsey Graham, a senator of the Republican party, praised Trump for meeting the Russian leader, but assessed that the best scenario is the suspension of weapons in Ukraine, which would be developed “long” before Christmas.
Everyone wants peace, but building it must take place in a responsible way – said a leading democrat in an interview with “FT” in the US Senate Armed Forces committee, Jack Reed.
– I didn't like Putin's reception on the red carpet, or the signal that Trump gave him, greeting him with applause. I think that everyone was a bit surprised by the lack of details and an unusual press conference after the meeting – he added.

A much sharp peak in Alaska was commented by a democrat from the House of Representatives, Mike Quigley, saying that “Trump literally spread Putin a red carpet, and he left, having a green light to continue his conquests.”
“FT” emphasized that for Trump it is important that complaints and appeals for caution also come from the Republicans.
– This simple fact remains unchanged: true and lasting safety can only be achieved at the negotiating table with our allies, and above all with Ukraine – said Brian Fitzpatrick, a Republican Congressmen of Pennsylvania.
The British newspaper also quoted the words of Michael McFaul, a former US ambassador to Russia during Barack Obama's term of office, who wrote on the X channel: “Alaska was not yellow 2.0. This is good news. But the bar is suspended quite low.”
