On Friday, Donald Trump met Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, raising high hopes for a Ukraine war agreement. The day after the summit, documents related to the summit, with the signs of the US State Department, were found at a hotel about 20 minutes from where the leaders met, writes the Polish press.
Documents from the Trump-Putin summit found in anchorage
About eight pages of documents with the signs of the US State Department were found in one of the public printers of the Anchorage hotel.
These documents included, among other things, precise information about the location and time of meetings at the Trump-Putin summit and the telephone numbers of the US government employees.
The documents included information on the order of Friday's meetings, the names of the rooms at the military base where the discussions were to take place and even information that Trump gave Putin – an office statuette of an American Vulture.
The documents also included the names and telephone numbers of the US government employees, as well as the names of American and Russian government officials. They also included phonetic transcripts of the names of the Russians – including Vladimir Putin – who participated in the summit.
The NPR also reports that the documents describe a lunch that was to take place during the summit. It was to take place, as indicated, “in honor of His Excellency Vladimir Putin”. Finally, however, lunch never took place.
The White House and the State Department have not yet responded to the comments for the documents found.
Trump-Putin conversation from Alaska
The meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin started on Friday night in Anchorage, Alaska.
The initial plan was for individual discussions, but just before the start, it was announced that the US and Russia leaders will be accompanied not only by translators, but also by the Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, as well as by Foreign Minister Serghei Lavrov and Putin's counselor.
The discussions lasted less than three hours. Trump and Putin made statements to the press, but did not answer the questions of the many journalists present. The more detailed discussions were canceled, and the common mass previously announced between the two delegations did not take place.
“I have agreed on many aspects,” the US President said. “I would say that on several important aspects I have not fully agreed, but I made some progress. There is no agreement until everything is agreed,” he added. For his part, Putin said that Ukraine and European allies are expected to accept the results of the US and Russia negotiations and warned them not to “torpile” the progress towards resolving the conflict in Ukraine. He said that Russia understands that Ukraine should be provided with security.
On Saturday, a group of European leaders discussed the results of the Alaska summit. They have developed a statement stating that Ukraine must receive unwavering security guarantees. “We also want to express our willingness to cooperate with President Trump and President Zenski in organizing a trilateral summit supported by Europe,” the document shows
US President Donald Trump invited European leaders and Ukrainian leader Volodimir Zelenski to visit Washington Monday. The day before, the European leaders and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, are to participate in a video conference to discuss the following steps in the war negotiations, the Élysée Palace said.
