Russian President Vladimir Putin acclaimed the North Korean troops fighting on the front in Ukraine as “heroic” in a letter to the dictator Kim Jong Un, according to the North Korean press, reports AFP, taken over by News.ro.
On the National Day of Korea's Liberation, Vladimir Putin recalls that units of the Red and Korean army fought together to put an end to the Japanese peninsula.
“The ties of militant, goodwill and self-help that have been consolidated during the war long ago remain solid and reliable today,” says Vladimir Putin in this letter published by the North Korean state press.
“This was fully proven by the heroic participation of the RPDC military (Korean Democratic People's Republic-n.red.) At the release of the Kursk region from Ukrainian occupants,” he writes, according to the North Korean Kcna press agency. “The Russian people will always keep the memory of their courage and their sacrifice,” he writes.
The Kremlin leader also writes that the two countries will continue “to act together and to defend their sovereignty effectively, making a significant contribution to establishing a right and multipolar world order.”
Russia and North Korea have recently strengthened their links. They signed a pact of mutual defense last year, during a visit by Vladimir Putin in this country.
In April, North Korea first confirmed that it had a contingent of military on the front line in Ukraine, along with Russian troops.
