A report by the United Nations shows that, in July this year, the number of civilians killed and injured in Ukraine has reached a maximum of the last three years. Almost 300 people died within a month, notes RBC and Rador Radio Romania.
The UN Monitoring Mission for Human Rights in Ukraine announced in its update on the protection of civilians that, in July, a new record was registered regarding the number of victims among civilians: 286 dead and 1,388 injured.
These figures represent the highest level of May 2022 and exceed the statistics of June 2025. The victims were confirmed in 18 of the 24 regions of Ukraine.
“It is the second consecutive month in which the number of civilian victims in Ukraine reaches a maximum of the last three years. Only in the first three months after the beginning of the large -scale invasion of the Russian Federation there were more victims than in the last month” – Danielle Bell detailed.
According to the report, almost 40% of the victims were caused by long -range weapons, including rockets and drones: 89 dead and 572 injured.
On July 31, the missile attack on Kiev and drone blows caused the largest number of civil victims in the capital from the beginning of the invasion: 31 dead and 171 injured.
Most of the July victims were registered in the areas under the control of the Ukrainian government, along the front line, reflecting the intensification of the Russian offensive. Also, short -range drones produced 24% of the number of victims: 64 dead and 337 injured.
These figures are significantly higher than those of July 2024. The air bombs launched by the Russian troops are the main factor of the sudden increase in the number of victims: 67 dead and 209 injured in July 2025, compared to 34 dead and 80 injured in June.
On July 28, the air bombs hit the penitentiary in the village of Bilenke, the Zapuijjia region. The attack resulted in 16 killed prisoners and at least 43 injured (all men). On July 31, an air bomb hit a residential building in Kramatorsk, the Donetk region, at least five civilians being killed.
On the night of July 30 to 31, Russia launched a combined attack on Ukraine, mainly for Kiev. The city was massively attacked with drones, followed by rockets. In the Sviatoșinsk neighborhood, a rocket hit a block of housing, completely destroying a building scale.
The Interior Minister, Ihor Klimenko, said the floors had completely collapsed. Following the attack, 31 people died and over 100 were injured. The government of Ukraine organized an extraordinary meeting after the massive attack on Kiev, in which it simplified the housing reconstruction procedures.
