Vision of the “great Israel”. KE: Annexation is illegal

The EU rejects all territorial changes that are not part of the agreement between the parties – said the European Commission spokeswoman Anitta Hipper, referring to the commentary of the Israeli Prime Minister about the vision of “Great Israel”. Annexation is illegal in the light of international law – she reminded.

In an interview with the Israeli I24news channel, which was broadcast on Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was asked if he “feels a bond” with the vision of “great Israel”, to which he replied: “very much”.

– The European Union rejects all territorial changes that are not part of the political agreement between the two parties. The annexation of the territory is illegal in the light of international law – emphasized Hipper, asked about the comment of Netanyahu about the vision of “the Great Israel”.

The term “great Israel” refers to the biblical descriptions of the scope of Israel's territory. The Times of Israel portal noted that this concept has many versions, and some of them refer to, among others to part of today's territories of Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Iraq and Saudi Arabia. The term was popularized after the six -day war in June 1967 in the context of the areas that Israel then took.
