US President Donald Trump said that there is a good chance that the meeting with Vladimir Putin in Alaska resulted in another meeting, between the presidents of Russia and Ukraine, shortly after. He threatened, however, that in the absence of a suspension of weapons, Russia would meet severe consequences.

– There is a good chance that we will organize a second meeting, which will be more productive than the first, because at first I will find out where we are and what we are doing – said Trump during the announcement of the Kennedy Center awards. – If the first meeting goes well, we'll do the second one. I would like to do it almost immediately and we will take a second short meeting between President Putin, President Zelnski and me if they want to see me there. It would be a meeting at which it could be done, but the first meeting would not do it – he added.

When asked if Russia would meet the consequences, if he did not stop his war after Friday, Trump answered the affirmative.

“There will be very severe consequences,” he said.

Despite this, answering the question of whether he thinks that Putin would convince to stop attacks on civilians in Ukraine, Trump admitted that “probably not”.

– I had many good conversations with him. Then I go home and see that the rocket hit the nursing home or the apartment block and people are lying on the street. So probably the answer is: no, because I have already had these conversations. I want to end this war. It's Biden's war, but I want to end it – said the president. He also noted that he knew the Russian president well, and he complained that on their relations in the first term he was a shadow's “Swindle Russiagate”.

Trump also talked about his Wednesday teleconference with European leaders, including the Ukrainian president of Volodymyr Zelnski. As he said, she went very well and went very friendly.

“I would rate her at 10, very, very friendly,” said Trump.
