Italian minister about Zelanski. “He knows he can't get everything”

In an interview, which appeared the day before the planned meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Italian Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto said that at some moments international policy “requires to put aside some rules of justice”.

– By inviting Putin to the territory of the United States, Trump is aware that he disregarded the international arrest warrant, who was on him, but if the peak can lead to the end of the war, he is ready to do this, “he pointed out.

As the head of the Italian Ministry of Defense said, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelanski realizes that “he has red lines that he cannot cross.” – His duty is to defend Ukraine's freedom for today and for the future. It will be a sovereign country when it is sure of its territory, when it will be able to defend itself and bring to the home of Ukrainians who escaped abroad Cosetto said.

Crosetto on the participation of EU representatives in negotiations

– No decision can be imposed on Ukraine by Trump, Putin, by the EU or anyone else. But Zelanski knows that after three years of war he had to change the goals he set for himself. He can't get everything. He must mediate between what would be fair and what is acceptable – the minister answered, asked if Ukraine would have to take a step towards surrender.

He emphasized, referring to US-Russia talks in Alaska, the presence of representatives of the European Union would not be a guarantee of security for the future. – Putin showed that he can negotiate today and attack tomorrow. The Union as such does not exist as a state entity – he emphasized.

According to Crosetto, the chairwoman of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen “represents the regulatory, bureaucratic and monetary administration.” – The EU has no foreign policy, there is no leader chosen by the nation. It does not matter, he cannot compare himself to the USA or Russia – argued the Italian minister.
