Energy Day August 14, 2025. Free day from work for one industry


On August 14, the current date of the Energetyka Day celebration was established in 1991, when the patron of the energy officers was announced. Maksymilian Kolbe – by the passion of an electrician, who died martyred in the Auschwitz concentration camp on August 14, 1941.
This holiday has its long history and changed the dates of the celebration. The Energy Day has its beginnings in 1956. At that time, the Energy Card was established, which was to be proof of the people's recognition by the people's profession and its importance for the economy. It also introduced the Energy Day.
In the years 1956–1972 the Energy Day fell on September 1, and in the period 1973–1990 it was celebrated on the first Sunday of September. It was only after 1991 that a fixed date was adopted on August 14, which is still valid today.
Energy day free from work
On August 14, it is a day off from work for energy industry employees in Poland. Although it is a day off, some employees, especially those working in a continuous system, may be obliged to on duty.
Many energy companies pay employees to employees on the occasion of their holidays or salary allowances.
The Energy Day is not only a symbolic honoring the work of specialists in the industry, but also an opportunity to reflect on the challenges facing the energy sector in the context of energy transformation and the growing demand for sustainable energy sources.
Energy Day celebrations
On Monday, the central celebration of the Energetyka Day took place in Bełchatów, in which, apart from employees of PGE Górnictwo i Energetyka, conventional Energy was attended by MPs and government representatives with the Minister of Energy Miłosz Motka and Deputy Minister of State Asset Robert Kropiwnicki.
A letter was read, which Prime Minister Donald Tusk referred to energy on this occasion.
“In the face of the challenges of transformation, you are one of the pillars of ensuring stability and a change in the structure of the national energy mix. I can safely say that the energy security of every Pole, every Polish, the entire Polish state depends on you,” emphasized the prime minister.
