Ukraine is preparing to end the fighting and dedication of the territories currently occupied by Russia as part of the peace plan supported by Europe, “Telegraph” said on Monday, citing a Western official, who is close to the ongoing diplomatic negotiations.

According to the British daily, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelnski told European allies that every solution proposed by US President Donald Trump, which assumes the dedication of Ukrainian land, but the issue of the territory of Ukraine under Russia's occupation may be taken during negotiations. This would mean the freezing of the front line, which is mentioned by many Western politicians, including, as “Telegraph”, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk noticed.
In an interview with Gazeta West, an official added that both Ukraine and Europe are becoming more and more concerned, that Trump during the Friday conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska will negotiate the end of the war, not counting with Zelanski's position.
“Telegraph” writes that Europe's greatest fears are aroused by a peace plan that would assume the freezing of the front line if Kiev would agree to give these parts of the Donetsk and Lugansk District, which are currently not under Russian occupation.
According to the source, which is referred to by the British daily, European leaders “now understand their role as supporting Ukraine in diplomatic negotiations.” This, according to the official, “raises morale and strengthens the diplomatic position of Ukraine, thanks to which the country does not feel lonely.”

In the joint declaration of the European Commission and France, Italy, Great Britain, Poland and Finland, it was found that “The current contact line (between the army of Ukraine and Russia) should be the starting point for negotiations'
As “Telegraph” noted, however, this does not exclude the decision by Zelanski to give the land, which is occupied by Russian forces. The President of Ukraine has the freedom to act in this matter. Meanwhile, the number of Ukrainians giving the opinion that at the price of the end of the war would agree to the dedication of the occupied land.
The daily pointed out that Kiev could not allow the Donetsk region in its entirety, because this would make it easier for the Russians to freely bypass Ukrainian fortifications built after the war in Donbas in 2014. “The President of Ukraine would also have to perform a real juggling, because the constitution of the country prevents him from giving the territory without a nationwide referendum,” British newspaper.
Zelanski has already stated that the Ukrainian armed forces do not have enough opportunities to regain the lands under the control of the Russians. After reaching the Kyiv agreement, however, he can use diplomatic means so that these lands return to Ukraine.
Russia currently occupies about 20 percent Ukraine's territory.
