In Poland, it is easy to access the media controlled by the Kremlin, banned by the EU authorities – said the Institute of Strategic Dialogue (ISD). Six EU countries covered the London Think Thanku. France and Germany protect themselves most effectively against Russian disinformation.


After Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the EU authorities banned the media controlled by the Kremlin in the EU, including online content, accusing them of sowing disinformation. Sanctions were covered by, among others RT channels, former Russia Today, Sputnik and other Russian press agencies, newspapers and information portals.
ISD criticized the European Commission in the report for the failure of the “reference list of various domain versions”, i.e. internet addresses used by each subject of sanctions. Lack of such a list deprives you of the state and internet service providers “necessary guidelines for effective and targeted law enforcement”.

Experts from ISD identified 26 media entities covered by sanctions that use 58 different domain names. They expect a list from Brussels, which will be public and constantly updated with all domains covered by sanctions.
The study covered Germany, France, Italy, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, testing the three most popular internet service providers in every country. Researchers have determined that Russia is trying to get around sanctions, including Creating mirror websites with various addresses, lining to the western media or using chatbots to reach a wide audience.

The report reads that the worst results in terms of enforcement of regulations were found in Slovakia, where Prime Minister Robert Fico sympathizes with the Russian authorities. The legal commitment regarding sanctions against pro -Russian media expired in 2022. According to researchers, all the party was forbidden were available during tests.
Poland took second place in access to pro -region of proximal pages and the media. Think Thank determined that at least 50 Russian domains are open to the Polish recipient.
Researchers emphasized that most of the sanctions of the pages have a small number of recipients in the EU, respectable at less than a thousand editions per month. The exception is five websites that record over 50,000 German visitors each month.
Each country belonging to the European Union is responsible for ensuring that the locks will be implemented by internet service providers.
