What next with Andrzej Duda and his candidacy for the IOC? New facts


Andrzej Duda officially transferred power to Karol Nawrocki on August 6. The former President of the Republic of Poland has not revealed any plans about his professional future except that he intends to promote his book “It's me”. With the departure of Andrzej Duda from the Presidential Office, they again revived speculation regarding the potential joining of the politician to the International Olympic Committee.

Only that – as the SportoweFakty WP website has established – “Nothing is talking about President Duda at least for now” – What was given to the service one of the activists who were close to the committee. At the same time, the RMF FM radio has determined that Andrzej Duda's candidacy for the International Olympic Committee is currently being considered by the opinion committee. According to Radio, the definitive decision is to be made soon during one of the Committee's closest sessions. It is possible that it will occur even in 2025.
The former president at the end of December 2024 stated that he was “involved in the issue of Olympism, both in Poland and international”which justified the candidacy for a member of the IOC. In the following months from these words, the matter died down a bit and now has returned, as Andrzej Duda officially has been unemployed.
Andrzej Duda passed Falstart to the IOC? New arrangements
Former President Andrzej Duda, before taking office in 2015, worked as a lecturer at the Jagiellonian University. As he announced, after the end of the presidency, he intends to return to Krakow. The predecessor of Karol Nawrocki has been on a free vacation for the last 10 years when he was the President of the Republic of Poland. Ultimately, however, he will not cooperate with the Jagiellonian University, because – as Radio Zet informed the Jagiellonian University spokesperson – the employment contract was terminated by agreement of the parties.

As explained by the SportoweFakty WP website, there are a number of obstacles on the road of Andrzej Duda to the IOC. “We have a new head of the IOC, who will want to rearrange the composition of the organization in her own way,” said an activist close to the committee in an interview with the said website.
What's more, the activities of Maja Włoszczowska, an outstanding Polish cyclist, which is a member of the Professional Commission of the IOC, may also be a problem. As the WP SportoweFakty website explains, if the Polish player would like to continue her work after the expiry of her term of office in 2028, she would have to be elected as a permanent member. This would mean that ITO would have to choose between Włoszczowska and Dudabecause countries cannot have more than one permanent member.
