Of the 33 criteria, six concern education and information information, five concern water quality, 15 concern environmental management, and seven concern safety and services.
Education and information on environment
In terms of education and environmental information, first of all, the details about the blue flag program must be visible.
Secondly, at least five ecological education events must be organized. Then information about the quality of the ocean water must be presented. Environmental management
Blue Flag certification for beaches requires fifteen environmental management criteria. These include the creation of a beach surveillance committee, compliance with administrative norms, protecting vulnerable areas and maintaining cleanliness, leaving natural residues, except dangerous ones.
The beaches must have enough trash and containers for recycling, well -maintained public toilets and a responsible waste disposal system.
Camping, throwing waste, pets and unauthorized vehicles are prohibited. All facilities must be safe and in good condition, vulnerable ecosystems must be monitored, and durable transport should be encouraged.
Safety and services
The first criterion is the existence of reasonable and protective rules, such as the presence of lifeguards or rescue vests. The second criterion is the accessibility of first aid tools.
The third criterion is the existence of prepared plans to cope with the emergency situations related to the pollution of the beach.
The fourth criterion is that measures must be implemented for the respectful and responsible use of the beach for different activities, such as swin and jet ski.
The fifth criterion requires that the means of ensuring the use of the public will be available. The sixth criterion requires drinkable water to be accessible on the beach.
The last criterion demands that at least one Blue Flag beach in each municipality be accessible to people with physical disabilities.
