Greece remains the favorite destination of Romanians who go on leave abroad, a survey shows

Three out of four Romanians who will spend their leave abroad this summer have chosen countries such as Greece, Bulgaria, Turkey and Italy and 54.5% chose as a means of transport personal car, it results from a poll conducted by CEC Bank in partnership with the banking comparator Finzoom.ro. Of the total of those questioned, only one in six Romanians choose to spend their vacation outside Romania.

Greece is the country where most Romanians have chosen to spend their leave abroad, respectively 26% of respondents, while over 17% chose Bulgaria, 15.4% will go to Turkey and 13% in Italy. Lower percentage are countries such as Spain (7%), Egypt (5%) and France (2.5%), while other destinations have even lower percentages.

When they have to choose the means of transport they use when they go on vacation, 54.5% of the respondents mentioned the personal car, while the train is chosen by 22.42% and the coach and plane of only 12%, respectively 11%.

At the question – where you get money for the holiday – over 77% of the respondents replied that they raise the money early, saving throughout the year. Much fewer (9%) borrows from friends, a little below 7% say they use holiday vouchers to pay for leave and almost 5% call for credit card/Overdraft. Very few, that is, 2% say they receive leave premiums from the employer.

Regarding the size of the holiday budget, 42% of the respondents talk about a lowering of the budget, by 10% to 30%, compared to the one allocated last year while for one in four Romanians, it is similar to last year. Only about 10% of Romanians will allocate more with 10% – 30% compared to last year.

In the question about how payments will make on leave, over 38% of the respondents say they will pay cash and about 22% a combination of cash and card payment, whether they are debit or credit. Just over 17% will only pay with debit and cash card, almost 6% with credit card and just over 5% with only with credit card and cash.

The survey was conducted online, by the Finzoom financial comparator, at the request of CEC Bank, on a representative sample of about 1,200 respondents from all over the country. 58% of the respondents are employees, over 70% live in the city, 40% have higher or postgraduate studies.
