President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky specified that the Russians hit the gas station in the village of Novoselskoye, as a result of which hundreds of families were left without gas.
“It was a conscious blow to our preparation for the heating season, absolutely cynical, like every Russian energy blow,” the president emphasized.
The Ministry of Energy explained that the compressor station, attacked by the Russians, was involved in the framework of the route connecting Greek LNG terminals with Ukrainian gas storages through the Transbalkan gas pipeline, and through which LNG from the United States and test volumes of Azerbaijani gas were already supplied.
The Ministry of Energy believes that the Russian Federation directed its blow against relations with Azerbaijan, the USA and partners in Europe.
“This is a clear and understandable signal for all of Europe, which in 2027 plans to completely abandon Russian natural gas,” said Svetlana Grinchuk, Minister of Energy of Ukraine.
The head of the board of NAC Naftogaz Ukraine Sergey Koretsky on July 28 on Facebook informed that Ukraine first began transporting Azerbaijani gas along the Transbalkan corridor. He reported a concluded agreement for the purchase of gas with the company SOCAR – Socar Energy Ukraine.
Test supplies, according to him, are carried out along the route “Bulgaria – Romania – Ukrainian border.”
According to the analytical company EXPRO, which led Reuters, gas reserves in Ukraine are at the lowest level over the past 12 years. Gas storages are filled by less than a third. As of August 5, even before Russia hit the station in the Odessa region, 10 billion m³ was located in the gas storages. According to the Ministry of Energy, for the duration of the heating season, the country needs approximately 13 billion m³.
Russian propagandists called this blow “a gift to the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.”
“This is a blow not only in Ukraine, but also on the interests of our” Azerbaijani partners. “Our” geraniums “would be carried out in Odessa and the district of the entire Azerbaijani infrastructure for the reception of Azerbaijani oil products (which Ukrainian tanks and military vehicles drive) – it would be great,” wrote in Telegram the Z -Blogger Yuri Podolyaka.
The host of the Russian propaganda Channel One Ruslan Ostashko, referring to unnamed experts, called this “Moscow Aliyev’s signal” in Telegram.
“Attempts to build deliveries bypassing Russia, but with the use of its own infrastructure, will stop,” the propagandist wrote.
Context
Since the beginning of a full -scale invasion, Russians regularly deliver missile and drone shots on the settlements of Ukraine, including oil and gas infrastructure.
July 19, 2025 at the Shushinsky media forum, the founder of the Gordon Internet publication Dmitry Gordon asked Aliyev, that he, as the leader of the country that returned its territories, would say to Ukrainians opposing Russian aggression. Aliyev advised “never agree to occupation”.
This statement caused a violent reaction of Russian propagandists. They called the words of the Azerbaijani president “hostile”, suggested that the Caspian could “soon become another theater of military operations,” some even called on the troops of the Russian Federation hit the tank “hazel”.
