“God to judge Ion Iliescu, since we, the Romanians, were not able,” the newspaper and writer Cristian Tudor Popescu reacted on Tuesday, commenting the death of the first president in the post-December history of Romania.
Ion Iliescu died. Be 95
“I lived all the mandates of Ion Iliescu in these 36 years, so I can say two things, for me Clare. In 1989-1990-1991, Ion Iliescu behaved as a man attached to the values of the Kremlin, the Soviet Union, who still existed. And which was dissolved by the disappearance of the Soviet Union, not otherwise, it looks quite clear.
“Also, it can be said that the prosoviet Ion Iliescu since the beginning of the 1990s was not, in his third term, nor after that, a little Soviet. Between 2000 and 2004, when he was President Iliescu, Romania entered NATO and stabilized, consecrated the entrance to the EU. He had no support message for the Kremlin people in Romanian politics and for those who tried to practically remove Romania from the EU and Europe in Romania ”, said the newspaper, quoted by News.ro.
The CTP also referred to the two great files in which Iliescu was targeted: the file of the mining and that of the revolution.
“Also, the authorities in Romania, the judicial power in Romania remained with a debt for all of us, namely the judgment of the Revolution and Mining, in which Iliescu was accused. The former president Iliescu lived, until 95 years, that these files have been completed if this would have been desired. Naturally », as Iliescu would comment now, the fact that no sentences were pronounced in these files in relation to Iliescu is an important, even fundamental cause, what we have lived in these years and what we live now!”, The newspaper said
“The fact that this rusty and bloody nail remained in the memory of Romania and Romanians from 1989 and 1990, this, in my opinion, influences much in evil what happens in our lives and will continue to happen.
The government announced the death of the former president during the afternoon. Subsequently, the doctors from Agrippa Ionescu Hospital said that Ion Iliescu died on Tuesday, at 3:55 pm, after 57 days of hospitalization.
The former president was diagnosed with complaint cancer during hospitalization. His health has begun to deteriorate from Saturday.
