The United States Embassy in Bucharest sent a special message on Sunday, May 4, on the occasion of the presidential elections that take place in Romania.

“Today, Romanian citizens vote in the first round of presidential elections, and the US Embassy supports a free and correct electoral process. Teams of the US Embassy have visited the polling stations to observe how the Romanians exercise their right to vote. This commitment to the democratic values leads to a safer, stronger and more prosperous society.”wrote the representatives of the US Embassy on Facebook.
In a separate message, they said that ambassador Kathleen Kavalec was joined to the director of the Department of External Relations and Protocol within the Permanent Electoral Authority, Ion Mincu, as well as to the Hilde Svartdal Lunde, Anna Hällerman and Gavin Buhan, to observe the Romanian citizens while exercising their right to vote.
The group visited a polling station at the “Herastrau” High School in Bucharest.
“Democracy is based on the sacred principle according to which the voice of people counts”is shown in the message.
