The national team from the Krasnoyarsk Territory took first place at the XV All -Russian Olympiad of young geologists

The national team of young geologists of the Krasnoyarsk Territory won in one of the disciplines at the XV All -Russian Olympiad of young geologists in the Perm Territory, and in the team event took a confident 135 team. Support for the children was traditionally provided by the gold mining company Polyus.

From July 24 to August 4, the XV All -Russian Olympiad of young geologists took place in the Perm Territory, in which almost 300 schoolchildren from 29 regions of Russia, as well as Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan took part. The team of young geologists of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, entitled “Geos” took 13th place in the team standings.

The first place was brought to the team by Captain Irina Averkin in the discipline “Shlikhovy testing.” This competition is also called “gold” – after all, in real life, sludge testing helps to find gold, diamonds and other heavy minerals. And although the method is already thousands of years, it still remains one of the most reliable, even in the era of high technology. The participants had the task of gently rinse the sample, get black slag and save all the elements. A participant in the Krasnoyarsk team did his job faster and cleaner than the other 34 participants.

In addition, the national team participants achieved worthy results in radiometry, the basics of safety precautions, the organization of field parking, paleontology and oil geology. In addition, the guys actively participated in the cultural program: attended master classes, cities of Prikamya, various production and interesting objects. And they even saw a quarry where gypsum is mined.

“Our guys showed team spirit, diligent perseverance, the desire for victory and Siberian generosity! I would like to note that they not only demonstrated high knowledge in different fields, but also actively shared them with other participants, once again proving that even in competitions the Krasnoyarsk residents remain noble and friendly, ”said the curator of the school of young geologist Mlada Dyakov.

Competitions were held in theoretical, practical, creative and sports competitions. The theme of the Olympiad covered the sections of natural science that make up the complex of sciences of land, as well as the issues of practical application of knowledge and skills of field life, the ability to pass geological routes, data analysis and the preparation of research reports. According to the estimates of the organizers for 12 days of the educational event, the teams solved more than 450 problems.

Preparation and the trip became possible thanks to the support of the Ministry of Nature of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Polyus gold mining company.

“Geology is one of the fundamental disciplines with which gold mining begins. Today, the geologist is a complex and high -tech profession, in which young talented specialists who are able to ensure the competitiveness and efficiency of the mining industry in the future are especially needed, ”said Sergey Gorbachev, director of work with the state bodies of the Krasnoyarsk Territory of Polyus. “I hope that in the future, a fascination with geological sciences will become their favorite profession for the children.”

Recall that earlier the young geologists of the Krasnoyarsk Territory successfully performed at the Olympics in Tatarstan. In the overall standings, the team from the Krasnoyarsk Territory took 16th place out of 38 teams of the South of Russia and the near abroad. At the same time, the guys entered the five strongest in the disciplines “Mineralogy and Petrography” and “Shlikhovy testing”, as well as in creative competitions.
