Iran hides atomic objects from Maea experts. “In no case”

Why is it important?
Iran has been in the center of international disputes regarding its nuclear program for years. The decision to limit access to Maea inspectors may hinder monitoring of Tehran's activities and increase concerns about potential development of nuclear weapons. Recent attacks on Iranian nuclear objects remain in the background, which additionally sharpened the relationship between Iran, Israel and the United States.
What did Ebrahim Azizi say?
– According to the law adopted by the parliament, the delegation of Maea, like other foreign inspectors, will under no circumstances receive physical access to Iranian nuclear facilities – said Ebrahim Azizi, chairman of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, quoted by the tape agency. He added that the Maea delegation would only be able to conduct technical consultations with Iranian officials.
How did the conflict escalate?
In June, Israel performed a military operation against Iran, which caused a series of retaliation. The United States joined the conflict, which hit Iranian nuclear objects. After intensive military operations, on June 24 a weapon suspension was announced, which was negotiated by US President Donald Trump. However, the lack of condemnation of Israeli and American attacks met with acute criticism from Iran.
What next with Iran and Maea relations?
On July 2, the President of Iran Masud Pezeszkian signed a law suspending cooperation with Maea. Despite this, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abbas Aragczi suggested on July 22 that Iran does not exclude the return of agency inspectors in the future. The visit of the Maea delegation in Iran, scheduled for the coming days, may be crucial for the future of these relationships.
What does this mean for the region?
Iran's decision to limit access for Maea may increase tension in the region and make negotiations on the nuclear program difficult. In the face of recent attacks and suspension of cooperation with Maea, the situation in the Middle East remains tense, and the future of nuclear agreements is in question.
