Virgil Ghiță is the third Romanian player in Hannover's history 96. Marcel Răducanu was the first, but he stayed there for only a month, after running out of the country in 1981. He was later legitimized at Borussia Dortmund.
The second Romanian to play for Hannover 96 is Gică Popescu, in 2003, at the end of his career. “Baciul” checked only 14 matches, during which time he scored a goal.
