Shock in Germany! Wolfsburg were relegated for the first time in their history. The team coached by Dieter Hecking promoted to the Bundesliga in 1997, and for 29 years has been constantly in the first league. In the 2008-2009 season he won the title, but on Monday night he experienced a real disappointment.
Wolfsburg lost the tie with Paderborn away, score 1-2, and after 0-0 in the round they left the first echelon. The elimination of Joakim Maehle in the 14th minute was decisive in the outcome of the game.

The comeback had started perfectly for the Bundesliga outfit. In the 3rd minute, Elias Daghim broke down the right and crossed for Luka Pejcinovic, who opened the scoring.
However, the guests' advantage lasted very little. In the 11th minute, aehle and Filip Bilbija were cautioned after a spontaneous conflict, and three minutes later the Danish defender saw his second yellow card after a rough intervention on Sebastian Hansen.
Outnumbered for most of the match, Wolfsburg gradually relinquished control of the game. In the 38th minute, Paderborn equalized. A long ball sent into the box was deflected by Brackelmann and Bilbija appeared at the far post and scored to make it 1-1.
The score remained unchanged until the end of the 90 minutes, and the match went into overtime. The decisive goal came in the 100th minute, when Sven Michel's cross found Laurin Curda free at the second post, who scored for 2-1.
At the end, Paderborn fans invaded the pitch to celebrate with their favourites, and the players posed for pictures while drinking beer.
The success sees Paderborn return to the Bundesliga after six seasons in the second division and become the first Zweite Bundesliga team to win such a tie against an elite side in seven years.
Relegation is a major setback for Wolfsburg. The club had the sixth largest budget in Germanyafter Bayer Leverkusen, Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt, and the financial balance of the season indicates losses of approximately 31 million euros.
