A Los Angeles Court confirmed a previous decision, pronounced in July on Friday to prohibit controls on racial criteria in Los Angeles during arrests targeting immigrants, controls that have been multiplied in June in southern California, reports News.ro citing AFP.

Rejecting the request of the Trump administration to suspend the order of the lower court, the Court of Appeal made up of three judges decided that the applicants may be able to prove that the federal agents have carried out arrests based on the appearance, language and place of residence or work of the respective persons.

The first court judge Maame Ewusi-Mensah Frimpong was pronounced on July 11 in favor of a complaint filed by several foreign immigrants, two American citizens and associates. They considered that they were victims of racial controls and denounce obstacles and obstructions in access to a lawyer during detention.

Frimpong invoked the “mountain of evidence presented” by the applicants regarding the arbitrary controls and arrests.

In the decision given on Friday night, the judges of the Court of Appeal maintained the decision of the substantive court. “It is a new confirmation of the fact that the paramilitary invasion of Los Angeles by the Administration (Trump) violated the Constitution and caused irreparable damages throughout the region,” said Mohammad Tajsar, lawyer of the Civil Right Defense Organization.

Thus, in Los Angeles and in six other committees in California, the Federal Police for Immigration (ICE) can no longer make arrests, without valid reasons, based on four factors: the ethnic origin, the fact that there is Spanish or English with a foreign accent, the profession of a person or the fact that it is in a certain place-such as a bus station, a bus station, a car station,

The intensification of police raids in such places where Latin American works is controversial since the beginning of June in Los Angeles. This caused violent manifestations and mobilization of the National Guard, ordered by Donald Trump against the opinion of the Democratic Governor of California, Gavin Newsom.

Immigration provides essential labor force for the American agricultural sector, which depends largely on workers without documents: 42% of agricultural workers have no work authorization in the United States, according to a study of the Ministry of Agriculture of 2022.
