The Russian ambassador in Bucharest, summoned to the MFA after the drone crashed in Galați. “An irresponsible and provocative act”

Minister Oana Țoiu summoned the Russian ambassador to Bucharest, Vladimir Lipaev, to the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday, after the crash of a Russian drone in the municipality of Galați, the institution announces.
The drone crashed in the Traian Barrier area, on the outskirts of Galati municipality, during Russia's attack on Ukraine. The authorities evacuated the population within a radius of 200 meters, after the specialists on the scene found that it had an explosive charge, according to IGSU.
“Oana Țoiu, Minister of Foreign Affairs, summoned the ambassador of the Russian Federation to Bucharest, today, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as a result of the crash last night, in the area of Galați, of a Russian drone used in attacks on Ukrainian civil infrastructure,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
“An irresponsible and provocative act”
The MAE denounced that Russia “violated the sovereignty of Romania's airspace through a new irresponsible action that could endanger the safety of the population”.
“It is an irresponsible and provocative act that violates basic principles of international law. For over four years, Russia has been waging an illegal war against Ukraine. This is not only a brutal imperialist act of conquest against a sovereign neighbor, but also a violation of regional and global peace and security,” the MFA also said.
A drone crashed in Galati
A drone fell on the night of Friday to Saturday in a residential area of the municipality of Galati during a massive Russian air attack on Ukraine.
According to the authorities, “an outbuilding of a household was affected, as well as an electricity pole”, marking the first time that damage has been caused by a Russian drone that fell in Romania. The area was evacuated in the morning because the drone has an explosive charge.
MApN said it raised two British Eurofighter jets after several drones were detected near the border in the Ukrainian town of Reni, adding that “it appears that one of the drones escaped from this swarm” and fell in Galati.
