The president of Brazil has cancer. He started radiotherapy

The politician began preventive radiotherapy. Doctors assured that the therapy would not disrupt his daily work.
In April, the president had a lesion removed from his scalp, which was later diagnosed as early-stage cancer. Radiotherapy is intended to prevent further changes, Reuters reported.
According to Agencia Brasil, the course of radiotherapy will last three weeks, during which 15 two-minute sessions are planned.
The oldest president in Brazil's history already had health problems
Lula is the oldest president in Brazilian history. In 2011, he was treated for throat cancer, and in 2024, he underwent several emergency surgeries related to a head injury. The left-wing politician announced his participation in the elections in October this year, in which he will run for a fourth term.
Lula leads in the polls, overtaking his main rival, right-wing senator Flavio Bolsonaro. He is the son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, who was sentenced to prison for preparing a coup after the 2022 elections, in which he lost to Lula.
