The natural disasters insurance pool (PAID) announced on Thursday that the insurers finding teams are in the floods affected “to quickly evaluate the damage and to accelerate the compensation process.”

Paid clarifications come in the context in which, according to the prefect in Suceava, the residents of Broșteni complained that they did not answer the companies where they had insurance policies for the houses affected by the floods.

“So far, 42 damage files have been opened for the houses insured by the PAD policy (of which only in Broșteni and 7 in Frasin). The insurers finding teams are already on the ground, to quickly evaluate the damages and to accelerate the compensation process,” said PAID.

Paid claims that it is in a permanent collaboration “with the local authorities, who have the database with the insured housing owners, to facilitate the rapid identification of the potential beneficiaries of the damages”.

“Paid is financially and operationally prepared to rapidly compensate the insured owners. Paid has sufficient own funds, complemented by the largest reinsurance program in Central and Eastern Europe – worth 1.4 billion euros – to guarantee the payments of all the necessary damages,” the statement said.

Paid urged the owners of housing from Suceava and Neamț counties who have been affected by the floods of the last days “to announce the damages as soon” (021 9993), online (www.paidromania.ro) or directly to the insurer from whom the PAD policy was bought.

Unsar reaction

In the context of the statements made by the prefect in Suceava, the National Union of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies in Romania (UNSAR) also reacted, who said that “the insurance industry fully understands the concerns expressed by the local authorities in the context of the emergency situations generated by the severe weather phenomena and reacts to this context.”

“The UNSAR members are mobilized to provide dedicated support to customers and to facilitate the process of evaluating and compensating for damages as quickly as possible. Thus, the representatives of several insurance companies are already on the ground,” said UNSAR.

Invoking the data provided by PAID, UNSAR said that “the affected localities register coverage with compulsory insurance of over 20% based on the mandatory PAD”.
