The regional department of Rospotrebnadzor Krasnoyarsk was told how to choose the right melon.
Summer is the time of juicy fruits, and the melon rightfully occupies a place of honor in this list. It is not only tasty, but also useful: it has a lot of magnesium, potassium, iron, vitamins C and R. It is best to buy melon in the season – from late August to the beginning of September. It was at this time that late varieties appear on the shelves, which are considered the sweetest and most saturated in composition.
You need to take melon strictly in authorized places of trade – where the seller can present documents for the goods. In no case should you buy fruits from the roadsides of roads: melon, like a sponge, absorbs heavy metals and toxins. Also pay attention to where it lies – the fetus should not contact the ground, only with the pallet.
Ask to cut a melon or buy an already cut is a bad idea. Sweet pulp is an ideal environment for bacteria. And if the fetus was fed open at least a few hours, it can cause serious poisoning.
In appearance, a good melon should be whole, without cracks, dents and suspicious spots. Only one light round speck is allowed – it suggests that the melon lay on the ground. The aroma should come from the ripe fruit. If the tail is on the one hand, then the other side should be a little soft – this is a sign of maturity. You can also check the sound with light cotton: deaf – means ripe. And if you are sonorous, like a watermelon, you will have to wait.
To the touch the melon should be elastic, slightly spring when squeezing. If completely hard, it is not dazzle. If the fingers leave dents – most likely, it has already overreased or lay for a long time.
Before you eat the melon, it must be thoroughly washed with soap and warm water. Be sure to store the cut melon in the refrigerator. And in no case do not combine it with dairy products, cold water or alcohol – the body may not evaluate such an eclecticism. It is best to eat a melon between meals – not on an empty stomach and not immediately after eating.
By the way, despite all her charm, the melon is not suitable for everyone. People with diabetes, exacerbation of peptic ulcer, as well as pregnant and lactating women should be more careful with her.
