Specialists of the Federal Center for Safety Assessment and Quality of Products of the Agro -Industrial Complex told the Krasnoyarsk residents about the dangers of corn sticks.

According to experts, the whole grain of corn is enriched with essential oils, vitamins and minerals that contribute to metabolism and protective functions of the body. However, popular corn sticks are made not of whole grains, but from redesigned flour or cereals. The technological process almost completely destroys the initial nutritional value of the product, but at the same time significantly improves its digestibility.

The rapid admission to the bloodstream is one of the main advantages of simple carbohydrates contained in corn snacks. The calorie content of these crispy products ranges in the range of 400-420 kcal per 100 grams of product. The nutritional value of the product increases significantly due to the enrichment of vitamins and trace elements, which manufacturers are often included in the recipe.

“Control of the consumption of corn sticks is extremely important for following the figure. These products are most often almost devoid of nutritional value, providing the body with only “empty” energy. Particular caution should be shown with flavored options – whether it is cheese taste or other additives – they contain an excess of salt, sugar and fats., ”Added to the Krasnoyarsk branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution“ TsOK APC ”.

Modern processing of corn flour, which serves as a base for corn sticks, completely destroys nutritional value. Experts are sure that the producers of the snacks exacerbate the situation by saving on the composition and replacing natural sugar with potentially toxic sweeteners who can seriously harm the body.

Such products for children are especially dangerous – their excessive consumption can cause problems with the digestive system. In addition to direct harm to health, these additives provoke overeating, since it is almost impossible to dwell on a small portion. Thus, sticks and similar snacks pose a double threat: they not only contain harmful components, but also stimulate excessive food consumption.
