The man who drove the boat overturned in the bay of Musura, detained. What mistakes have led to the tragedy

The 34 -year -old man who drove the boat overturned in the Bay of Musura was detained for 24 hours. According to investigators, he ignored the weather warnings and drove an inholated boat for sea navigation, with 13 passengers, over the legal limit.

The driver of the boat is active sergeant at a military unit in Babadag. The military prosecutors are investigating the case and confirmed that the boat was exclusively for the river, not the open sea.
More serious, the tragedy occurred during a 4th grade storm. Children were among the passengers.
Every day, dozens of boats leave Sulina to the sea or to the beams without being checked beforehand. No authorizations are required, rescue vests are often missing, and the number of passengers is, in many cases, exceeded.
“It is a vacuum here in the legislation. The captains were making controls, but the leisure boats are not subject to this legislation we give,” said Florin Uzutoma, director of AFDJ Galați, quoted by Pro TV News.
According to official data, almost 400 leisure boats are authorized for the transport of people in the Delta, but the checks are rare, and the sanctions almost non -existent. The head of the Tulcea captain, Dan Ichim, acknowledged that no distinct authorizations are required for persons with leisure boats.
Against the background of the drastic decrease of tourism following the conflict in Ukraine, many locals take risks to keep their income. “Try to take advantage of this thing and maybe so it has been to the Lord to be 14 people,” said a boat pilot in the area.
