The Foreign Ministry of Eston announced on Monday that it was convened on Russia's business task in relation to the incursion of a Russian vessel into Estone territorial waters, AFP reports.

Foreign Minister Eston, Margus Tsahkna, stressed on the X platform that the Baltic Country “convened on the Russian business task to send an official protest note in relation to this serious and unacceptable violation of the maritime border”.

The Army Estona indicated in a statement that an unauthorized ship of the Russian border police has briefly entered the country's territorial waters, advancing up to 500 meters deep.

Foreign war vessels can navigate to Estonia's territorial waters only if they do it peacefully and notify the country's Foreign Ministry 48 hours before.

However, “the Russian ship did not do it,” says the army, adding that it is for the first time this year when a Russian vessel violates the maritime border of Estonia.

In May, a Russian fighter plane violated Estonia's airspace, according to Tallin's Foreign Ministry.

The tensions have amplified between the two countries after the invasion triggered by Russia in Ukraine in February 2022. Estonia, a member country of the European Union and NATO, is a fervent ally of Kiev since the beginning of the war.

Russia has no ambassador to Tallin on February 7, 2023, when Estonia ordered its departure, as a reaction to Moscow's actions to reduce the level of diplomatic representation of this Baltic country in Russia.
