Artificial intelligence “employs” people on a dedicated platform. Over 600,000 people have already signed up: 'AI needs your body'

The RentAHuman platform, a project that allows AI agents to hire humans for various real-world tasks, debuted in an unusual way. Although the site initially attracted many users eager to make quick money, “employers” AIs were almost completely absent.

After a few weeks, the platform began to promote examples of collaboration between humans and artificial intelligence, trying to prove that the system works, according to the publication Futurism.

One case that went viral is that of a Tokyo resident who stood at one of the busiest intersections in the world holding a message that said he was “employed by an AI”.

In reality, most of the tasks available on the platform are extremely simple, like holding a poster in public, and their usefulness is limited. In this context, RentAHuman, which has already gathered hundreds of thousands of users, looks more like an unconventional marketing strategy than a real job market.

“AI needs your body”, that's what it says on the front page of the RentAHuman.ai website.

Another recent example highlights the limits of the system. An AI agent would be “employee” a person to release a lobster into the ocean, but the entire process was actually supervised by human operators. Although they claim that artificial intelligence made most of the decisions, human intervention was essential, especially for transmitting information that the AI cannot directly interpret, such as images or videos.

The selected person, a content creator from Mexico, followed the instructions and documented the entire action. However, in the end, problems arose: although the system indicated that the payment had been made, the beneficiary claimed that he had not received the money even after two days of work.

The situation highlights the current limits of these technologies. Far from operating fully autonomously, AI agents still depend on human intervention, and the results are often inconsistent.

Additionally, many of the tasks available on the platform seem irrelevant or redundant, with some being simple household chores and others tasks that companies claim AI can already do on its own.
