The announcements were made on the occasion of the conclusion of the third edition of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference, which took place in Shanghai and ended on Monday, reports Reuters.

The conference was also the opportunity to launch a series of new products, such as a calculation system based on artificial intelligence in Huawei (HWT.ul), considered by experts as a serious competitor of the most advanced NVIDIA offers. Also, friendly products for consumers have been presented, such as a diversified range of Ai digital glasses.

One of the announced alliances, “Model-Chip Ecosystem Innovation Alliance”, gathers Chinese developers of large linguistic models (LLM) and chip producers.

“It is an innovative ecosystem that connects the entire technology, from chips to models and infrastructure,” said Zhao Lidong, CEO of Enflame, one of the participating chip producers. Other alliance members producing graphic processing units (GPU) include Huawei, Biren and Moore Threads, companies affected by the sanctions imposed by the US, which block their access to advanced technologies with American know-how. The alliance was announced by Steppfa, a developer of large linguistic models.

The second alliance, the Artificial Intelligence Committee of the General Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, aims to “promote the deep integration of the technology with industrial transformation”. Participants include Sensetime (0020.HK), sanctioned by the US, which has pivoted from the facial recognition technology to the large linguistic models. Other participating companies are stepfun and another LLM developer, Minimax, as well as chip producers, Metax and Illuvatar Corex.

One of the most discussed products at the conference was CloudMatrix 384 from Huawei, which integrates 384 910C chips and exceeds the performance of the NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 on certain criteria, according to the SEMIANALISIS research company. Huawei design capabilities have allowed the use of a larger number of chips and innovations at the system level to compensate for the lower performances of each individual chip, Semianalysis added.

At least six other Chinese computing companies have presented similar “clustering” technologies. Metax has demonstrated a supernod of which includes 128 C550 chips, designed to support the large requirements of liquid -based cooling centers.

Other notable events included the presentation by the tenant (0700.HK) of its Open-Source Hunyuan3D World Model 1.0, which allows users to generate 3D interactive media through text or images. Baidu (9888.HK) has announced his technology as a “digital man” that helps business to create virtual livestrear. This includes the “cloning technology” that can reply the voice, tone and body language of a person from only 10 minutes of filming.

Finally, Alibaba (9988.HK) announced the launch of Quark's glasses, fed by the AI Qwen, to be available on the China market by the end of 2025. They will allow users to access the Chinese giant map services and use Alipay by scanning QR Codes.

These initiatives reflect China's efforts to strengthen their position in the internal technological sector and to reduce the dependence on external technologies, in the context in which geopolitical pressures continue to model the global strategy in the field of artificial intelligence.
