Dozens of people who went to the beach in Sardinia were forced to flee the boat on Sunday due to a huge vegetation fire that broke out, blocking other escape routes, firefighters said, according to Reuters.
From the Villasimius beach in the south of the island, black smoke could be observed rising.

The country was affected by the summer heat waves, the vegetation fires affecting the southern arid regions.
Italy is not the only country in the Mediterranean Sea basin facing vegetation fires during this period.
Problems in Greece and Turkey
On Sunday, the Greek authorities were still fighting the vegetation fires that devastated housing and triggered evacuations throughout the country, according to AFP.
The firefighters said that 55 new fires broke out in 24 hours, but 50 were extinguished immediately.
On Sunday evening, firefighters were fighting the flames on five major fronts, in the Peloponnese area, west of Athens, as well as on the Evia, Kythera and Crete Islands.
Meteorologists estimated that the strong winds that fed the flames will calm down on Most areas. However, they warned that the island of Kythera, a popular tourist area with 3,600 inhabitants, continues to face “worrying” conditions.
Problems are also in Turkey, where firefighters acted on several areas on Sunday. The authorities evacuated over 3,600 people from localities in two provinces, according to Reuters.
The fires in the southern provinces of Măin and Antalya, as well as in the USAK central province, were largely under control. However, the outbreaks of the North-Western province of the Bursa and the province of Nor Karabuk continued to burn, said the Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Ibrahim Yumakli.
There are fires in Bulgaria too
On Sunday, the country from the south of the Danube faced 236 vegetation fires, EFE reports, according to Agerpres.
The Bulgarian authorities issued a red code of heat in 11 regions, including Blagoevgrad, about 100 kilometers southwest of the capital Sofia, and Iambol, southeast of the capital, where some of the most serious fires are concentrated.
The biggest fire was reported in the area of Ilindentsi village, in the Blagoevgrad district, where about 200 firefighters supported by the army were trying to count the flames. The fire intensified there during the night and forced the evacuation of the emergency teams, while the strong wind expanded the flames to the north. There is no immediate danger to the population, but thousands of hectares of forest have been affected.
