1. Dig on time:
Garlic is ready when the lower leaves are turned yellow, and the bulbs were covered with dense scales. Do not focus on the calendar – check the condition. Gently dig out so as not to damage the heads, and immediately after the collection, take the garlic into the shadow, to the ventilated place, but not in the sun, otherwise it will begin to be the reservoir.
2. Dry with feathers:
Do not cut the tops right away! The first 5 days, dry the garlic along with the leaves in the shade, for example, under a canopy. Shoot the ground with your hands, do not touch the roots.
3. Preparation after drying:
After 5 days, cut the roots up to 5 mm, and leave the cuttings 2-4 cm from the tops. Sort the heads: whole – to wooden boxes for winter storage, damaged – into the kitchen for fast use. Check the cut of one head: the pulp should be dry, but fresh.
For a better result, avoid mistakes: do not dry in the heat and do not rush to clean in the cellar, especially if you dig in the rain. You can tie the tops in pigtails and hang for drying – it is convenient and beautiful.
