Hulk Hogan was in the process of filming a documentary for Netflix at the time of his death, CNN said. The legend of wrestling died earlier this week at the age of 71.

According to sources close to the project, the documentary, made in partnership with the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), had not been officially announced and aims to tell the story of Hogan's life and career, both in the ring and outside.

Filming continues after its unexpected death, and the production will be launched according to plan.

A source close to the documentary, which does not yet have an official title, said that the project has been working since 2024. So far over 20 hours of interviews have been performed, filmed with Hulk Hogan, as well as another 30 hours of video already recorded.

The documentary was made with the full participation of Hulk Hogan. “People will discover a side of him that they have never seen before,” the source told CNN.

For the time being, a launch date has not been set, and Hogan's unexpected death will impose changes in certain sequences of production.

Born Terry Bollea, but known throughout the world as Hulk Hogan, the professional fighter was considered the biggest star in wrestling, contributing to the WWE transforming a global phenomenon.

Hogan died on Thursday, following a cardiac arrest, the authorities announced. Police and firefighters from Clearwater, Florida, said in a press conference that there are no signs of suspicious activity or involvement of other people in his death and that a routine investigation had been opened.

Hulk Hogan is considered responsible for transforming wrestling into an entertainment phenomenon. His imposing presence from the 1980s and 90s at the rank of world superstar and known names worldwide, setting the model followed by other fighters such as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and John Cena, who have transformed their celebrity into successful careers in Hollywood, in movies, TV shows and reality shows.

The documentary made for Netflix is directed by Bryan Storkel and produced by the Words + Pictures studio, founded by Connor Schell, in collaboration with WWE.
