“It should be stated that throughout the day Cambodian forces continued ruthless attacks on the territory of Thailand,” wrote the Thai department on platform X. He emphasized that “Cambodia's actions testify to the lack of good will and still expose the civilian population to danger.”
Earlier on Friday, Thailand diplomacy informed that Bangkok is ready to mediate third countries in the conflict with Cambodia. The US, China and Malaysia made such a proposal.
-We are ready if Cambodia wants to resolve this conflict through diplomatic channels, bilateral negotiations, or even through Malaysia's mediation (currently held in the organization of ASEAN, focusing the countries of Southeast Asia)-said a spokesman for the Thai Ministry of Diplomacy.
As Reuters writes, Cambodia also agreed to the Malaysian proposal, but the premiere of this country Hun Manet accused Thailand of withdrawing from the desire to talk about suspending weapons.
Conflict between Thailand and Cambodia
The next installment of the conflict on the course of the border, which broke out on Thursday in the disputed areas on the border of the Surin Province in Thailand and Uddar Meanchey in Cambodia, quickly turned from the exchange of fire from manual weapons into heavy bombing in at least six locations on a section of over 200 km.
The border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia has been going on for over a century and has repeatedly led to armed skirmishes in which dozens of people were killed. Its source was the agreements concluded at the beginning of the 20th century. Still between Siam (the former name of Thailand)-then the only country in Southeast Asia that was not colonized-and colonial France. Border lines were designated then, which in later years were contested by Thailand.
