The PNL National Political Bureau has validated, unanimously, the appointment of Dan Motreanu as a Secretary General of the party, at the proposal made by President Ilie Bolojan.
“With a long experience in the political life and party structures, Dan Motreanu returns to a key position within the PNL,” the party statement said.
At the same time, BPN members have established the areas of which each of the four first vice-presidents of the PNL will be held:
- Cătălin Predoiu – coordination of PNL ministers and international relations;
- Adrian Veștea – the local public administration, the connection with the mayors and the associations of the local administration;
- Ciprian Ciucu-online communication, coordination of the national-liberal youth and the Club of Liberal Seniors, as well as the activity of the Institute of Popular Studies (ISP);
- Nicoleta Pauliuc – coordination of the women's organization (OFL) and liberal seniors (OSNL), as well as the policies to support women, child and family in society, together with the parliamentary activity.
According to the new PNL statute, approved at the July 12 Congress, the Secretary General of the Party is proposed by the PNL president. Ilie Bolojan announced that his proposal is Dan Motreanu, but he had to be validated, by secret vote, in the first BPN meeting after the Congress.
Dan Motreanu is currently a MEP. In the past, he was three times a deputy (from 2004 to 2016). Motreanu is based on a teacher of history and physical education. It has been in PNL since 1997. In 2005, it entered the PNL executive office for the first time, according to its CV. In 2006-2007 he was the Minister of Agriculture.
Dan Motreanu was acquitted, in June 2019, by the High Court of Cassation and Justice in the file in which he was accused of receiving bribe for financing the 2008 election campaign. The decision was final.
