On this day, Orthodox people honor the holy Equal -to -the -Apostles Olga, largely thanks to which Rus' accepted the Orthodox faith.
Olga was nicknamed that her birthday in Rus' was at the very height of field work. At this time, the fields and meadows entered the whole village: who was engaged in harvest, some hay harvesting; Children were sent to the forest – mushrooms and berries. “And it’s not time for decrepit old people to groan, it is necessary to care about bread,” people said. On this day, the peasants prayed to St. Olga for good weather, for mercy to the Reapers, that she would give the opportunity to finish work earlier than the rye begins to rot from abundant dew, which will soon begin to fall into the fields. “Olga is on the help field,” people believed.
