British strategist: should Zelnski give way? Nonsense. He is not a problem [OPINIA]
If it is, he should reach the sword of justice and he should take responsibility and resign, not Zelanski, although the style of governing the president suggests that he is too dependent on Jermak in doing dirty work. So who should replace it?
I do not think that anyone would consider Zelanski a corrupt person, but Ukraine itself has a serious problem with corruption. I talk to people from the military and industrial complex and they claim that corruption is common, intensifies and weakens war efforts. Before the full -scale invasion, corruption was the biggest challenge facing Ukraine – a permanent source of complaints from business, and thus Western donors.
We can delve into the reasons for this state of affairs – it is not that Ukrainians are more susceptible to corruption than Estonians, British or Poles, but how the post -Soviet transformation in Ukraine went compared to other countries of the region.
In my opinion, an important role was played by the lack of perspective of joining the EU, but also for Ukraine and many other emerging markets, it was important that it was developed by developed countries that made corruption easier, too easily accepting illegal income from corruption to their banking systems, using poor customer identification procedures and asking too few questions. If corrupt people could not locate and use their illegal profits, they would be interested in changing their own systems from the inside.
But we are where we are – Corruption is a huge problem that should be dealt with in both peace and war, but the number one priority is, of course, winning the war. And although some would like to suspend the flow of funds to Ukraine to pull Zelanski to be responsible for his last defeat in terms of corruption, this is not feasible, because this would put Ukrainian soldiers in an adverse situation and increase the likelihood of Russia's victory. Let's be clear: if Russia wins, Ukraine will not suddenly solve its problems with corruption – they will multiply and deteriorate significantly.
In this war, however, Zelanski showed courage and cunning. He commanded from the first line, visiting the front many times. His personal chemistry with Western leaders was a decisive factor in mobilizing the West and other countries to support Ukraine. At the moment, I don't see any alternative to Zelanski in Ukraine – and probably most Ukrainians think so. I also can't imagine that Zelanski would like to stay in peace in peace – great physical and emotional exhaustion suggests that he will choose an easier life outside the office.

However, as long as he remains the president, Zelanski simply has to draw conclusions and reset his actions in relation to Nab and Sapo, respecting the strong opinions of numerous Ukrainian NGOs dealing with the fight against corruption. It will probably also be necessary to change staff at the Presidential Palace.
Ultimately, however, removing Zelanski would be a huge victory for Putin. Because it is not Zelanski who is an obstacle to Ukraine's victory, but Putin.
