There is no nervousness behind the passport control gate, because of course no one is interested in the Czechs wandering around New York streets. And why should I worry about it – in a city almost as big as my homeland? The global metropolis is teeming with life, speaks seven or eight hundred of different languages (the exact number is unknown) and trembles in the summer heat. Whoever has reason and resources went somewhere on vacation.
The way Trump managed to create in the heads of people the idea that America is today a country in which a man catches on the street and in the best case sends where he came from, and worse to Guantanamo or a concentration camp in Salvador, but is fascinating.
Of course, the new image of the United States is partly based on truth.
The Trump administration loudly set itself the goal of expulsion from the country of a million undocumented immigrants a year. The government agency for immigration and customs control (ICE), responsible for the deportation of such people, carried out loud actions in Chicago and Los Angeles, where her agents had to [przynajmniej według prezydenta Donalda Trumpa, który zadecydował o włączeniu tych służb do stłumienia demonstracji przeciwko gwałtownym działaniom ICE] Ultimately, defend against the angry people of the National Guard, and even at some point maritime infantry.

Police with detained protesters against the aggressive policy of Donald Trump regarding migration, Los Angeles, California, USA, June 9, 2025.
Trump actually built a detection center in Guantanamo and sent several aircraft with alleged “terrorists” to El Salvador. Innocent people were undoubtedly in this network; The case of Kilmar Garcia Abregi is known all over the world, who “mistakenly” spent several terrible weeks in Salvador, and now in America is waiting for a trial on charges of participating in the smuggling of immigrants to the USA for remuneration.
The thought of the fate of people who probably lost and which the media does not write from “The New York Times” to Respect is terrifying. Trump also spectacularly complicated the lives of several people who have a different opinion about the conflict in the Middle East. The most bright example is the history of a student at the Colombian University of Colombian Mahmud Charali – who was not an isolated case.
In most cases, Trump finally withdrew from these plans. It is similar with mass deportations: if you look at real numbers, it turns out that the United States has changed primarily rhetorically and visually. In fact, deportations are not that common.

First of all, the government does not boast of numbers too much, which in itself is quite meaningful. And when journalists get them, they don't look too impressive. During the first six months, the administration deports on average less than 15,000. immigrants per month. For comparison, Barack Obama deported more than twice as much. So if Trump really wanted to deport a million people this year, as he promised his supporters, his officials would have to increase their efficiency ten times.
For the context: George W. Bush during eight years of rule deported over 10 million undocumented immigrants from the country. Barack Obama mentioned – 5 million 300 thousand. Joe Biden within four years – about 4 million. The weakest in deportations was … You guessed, Donald Trump, during which the United States had to leave less than 2 million people.
However, the above statistics are not entirely fair, because the deportations take place in a different context. One thing is to send migrants detained on the border to third countries, which was largely made by previous presidents, and another attempt to throw some of the US from about 12 million people who have been in this country illegally for a long time. This is what Donald Trump is trying to make serious legal difficulties.

Masked federal agents in front of the building of the Immigration Court in Jacob K. Javits Federal Building in New York, USA, July 14, 2025.
As a result ICE agents actually sow terror in districts with a high percentage of immigrants, and about half of the detainees go to detention centers and a thicket of legal procedures. On the border, however, there is relative peace, and the number of attempts to enter the country fell from several hundred thousand a month two years ago to just a few thousand.
At the same time, America remains above all a huge organism that changes and struggles with itself. On the one hand, ICE agents organize raids (let's face it) in the Latin districts, on the other hand, in the New York subway, there are subtitles informing that if you have victims of this government agency in previous years, you have the right to compensation, because NGOs have filed a collective action on your behalf and have won. In America, on the one hand, Donald Trump won, and on the other, the Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani is heading for the victory in the election of the mayor of a ten -million city. God knows how it all ends and what we will write in two years.
