On July 21, 1997, the Birobidzhan Jewish community Freud was created (now the local religious organization of Orthodox Judaism “Birobidzhan Religious community” Freud “).
By the time of the formation of Freud in the city of Birobidzhan, the Jewish religious community “Beit-Tshuva” was already operating, therefore, on July 7, 1997, at a meeting of the Jewish community, which attended 78 people, it was decided to create a secular community.
The meeting was adopted by the Charter of the Birobidzhan Jewish community Freud, among the goals and objectives of which were: “The development and popularization of the historical and cultural heritage of the Jewish people, the conduct of educational activities directed against anti -Semitism and other manifestations of national impatience, the awakening of national self -awareness, social and creative activity of the Jewish population of the EAO” and others.
The community council was elected: Leo Toytman (chairman), Igor (Isaac) Leiderman (deputy chairman), Boris Fishman (deputy chairman), Albina Sergeeva (secretary), Diomar Korolkova, Valery Gershkovich, Vyacheslav Sherman, Vladimir Golberg, Ida Lozhokina, Valentin Pasmanik.
July 21, 1997. The Charter of the Public Association was registered by the Department of Justice of the EAO Administration.
On June 25, 1998, at the Constituent Assembly of the Birobidzhan Religious (Organization) of the Freud community, the 10 people present unanimously voted for the reorganization of the Jewish secular community and the formation of the Freud religious community.
In November 2000, the Jewish Community Center was solemnly opened in a reconstructed two -story building at ul. Sholom Aleicham, 14a.
