According to the regional supervisory agency, in 2015 in Krasnoyarsk, a Russian woman and an Azerbaijani citizen registered a marriage. However, the prosecutor's investigation revealed that the spouses met and became acquainted only in the registry office itself.
“For her signature, the bride received 10 thousand rubles from the groom through her unclelei. Their lifestyles did not intersect: no joint household, no children, and there was no talk of family values. In addition, he still has a legal wife in his homeland with an undissolved marriage. He needed his new “wife” solely to gain legal status in Russia,” explained the press service of the regional prosecutor's office.

During the proceedings, law enforcement officers canceled the residence permit of the “spouse” and deprived him of the grounds for staying in Russia.
Zand 2024-2025 prosecutor's office filed 160 claims in the field of combating illegal migration. 23 fictitious marriages and 6 facts of paternity were challenged, 51 certificates of Russian language proficiency were annulled. The state's revenue was collected from 72 citizens for the illegal registration of foreigners at their place of residence, the supervisory agency added.
