The French goalkeeper Mike Mike (30 years old) takes over the captain of AC Milan for the 2025-2026 season, stopping a historic series of 64 years, during which only the Italians were the leaders of the “Rossonilor” locker room. Swedish Nils Liedholm was the last foreign captain of the Milanese, wearing the banner in 1961.

Maignan, whose contract with AC Milan expired next summer, wore the banner in the previous season after Davide Calabria (28 years old), who had become the team captain at the start of the 2022-2023 season, was borrowed to Bologna for the return of last season.

Meanwhile, the understanding of the Italian defender with AC Milan has expired, and coach Massimiliano Allegri officially designated Maignan as the new captain, notes Sportal.gr.

Allegri appointed Mike Make Mike the new captain of AC Milan, becoming the first foreigner after 64 years who will be the leader of the Milanese “devils”.

Although Maignan also wore the captain's banner in the past, both under the command of Paulo Fonseca and Sergio Conceicao, this was due to the absence of the main captains. Now, taking over the banner becomes official and permanent.

In fact, other foreign players such as the Brazilian Thiago Silva or the Swedish Zlatan Ibrahimovic wore the banner for AC Milan, they have never been officially designated captains.

Throughout history, legendary Italian players such as Cesare Maldini, Paolo Maldini, Franco Baresi, Gianni Rivera or Massimo Ambrosini, have been the captains of AC Milan.

Mike Maignan comes from PSG's Academy, but he started to debut for the band in the capital of France. It was transferred by Lille 2015 for only one million euros, and after 6 seasons there, of which in 4 was a holder, the French goalkeeper was transferred by AC Milan, in exchange for the amount of 15.4 million euros.

For “devils”, Maignan ticked 4 seasons, in which he was a holder.
