Thousands of people gathered in Dharamshala on Sunday, in India, to celebrate the Dalai Lama at the age of 90-an important terminal in the life of the Tibetan and Laureate Nobel Peace Prize, known for his compassionate messages and trying to get more freedoms for the Beijing.
Without being discouraged by the abundant monsoon rain and dense fog, crowds dressed in elegant straps have entered the narrow streets from the early hours of the morning and stood in large numbers, hoping to see the Dalai Lama at the Tiblakhang Buddhist complex.
Hundreds of them were expecting hope to see if they would be allowed to enter the temple, which reached maximum capacity even before the beginning of the festivities and was strongly supervised by the Indian police and the security personnel.
Dancers in traditional costumes turned on the sounds of the gongs and flutes, while the Dalai Lama was led in the complex by two companions.
Ministers of the Indian government spoke at the event, as well as Hollywood actor Richard Gere, a long supporter of Dalai Lama.
Songs then filled the yard, while the Dalai Lama was served with a slice of its anniversary cake, covered with fresh fruits and a white lily.
The event marked the climax of a holiday for several days that brought supporters and other spiritual leaders in the small Indian city at the foot of the Himalaya Mountains, which serves as headquarters of the Tibetan government and the Dalai Lama house since he fled Tibet during the 1959 Revolt.
