A chief commissioner within the Giurgiu County Police Inspectorate – Economic Crime Investigation Service was detained, on Friday, by anti-corruption prosecutors, after he was caught receiving a 10,000 lei bribe.

According to a press release from the DNA sent to Agerpres, the prosecutors ordered the initiation of criminal proceedings and the detention for 24 hours, starting on Friday, against Adrian Ciulei, a police officer with the professional rank of chief commissioner within the Giurgiu County Police Inspectorate – Economic Crime Investigation Service, for committing the crime of bribery in continuous form (5 material documents).

The anti-corruption prosecutors note in the ordinance that, in the period from December 2024 to December 2025, in the context of the implementation of a criminal case of tax evasion, Adrian Ciulei, in the aforementioned capacity, allegedly claimed and received from a person (witness in question) the total sum of 29,800 lei.

“In exchange for this amount of money, the defendant would have promised to facilitate the obtaining of a solution not to be sent to court in the file in which the person in question was being investigated. Later, during a meeting in November 2025, the defendant Adrian Ciulei would have told him that a solution not to be sent to court could no longer be ordered, but that, for the amount of 10,000 lei, he would try to delay sending the file to the prosecutor's office until in the spring of the following year”, say the investigators.

Thus, on Friday, while he was in his company car, in the parking lot of a fast food in Giurgiu municipality, Adrian Ciulei received the sum of 10,000 lei from the person in question, on which occasion he was caught red-handed by the anti-corruption prosecutors, informs DNA.

Also on Friday, he will be presented to the Bucharest Court, with a proposal for preventive arrest for 30 days.
