The wave of heat extends today throughout the country. Four counties are already under warning red code of heat, while other areas, including Bucharest, are under orange code. Monday, however, the red code extends throughout the south of the country.
Meteorologists have just issued a new weather warning, valid for July 7, from 10.00, until July 8, at the same time. During this time, “the heat wave will expand and continue to intensify”.
Temperatures up to 41 degrees and tropical nights
In the counties of Mehedinți, Gorj, Dolj, Olt, Vâlcea, Argeș, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Dâmbovița, Prahova, Buzău, Brăila, Ialomița, Călărași, Ilfov and in the municipality of Bucharest, there will be maximum temperatures of 38-41 degrees.
“The thermal discomfort will be particularly accentuated, and the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. The thermal minimums will be 21-24 degrees, so they will characterize a tropical night,” announces ANM.
Areas under orange code
Another seven counties are under the orange code of heat. “In Banat, the southwest of Transylvania, the south of Moldova and the continental Dobrogea, the heat wave will be maintained, it will be the heat, the accentuated thermal discomfort, and the temperature index will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. The maximum temperatures will be between 36 and 39 degrees, Tropical, ”announces ANM.
What areas are today under weather alert
Today, the counties of Mehedinti, Dolj, Olt and Teleorman are under the red code of heat. Other areas, including the capital, are targeted by orange code warnings, and a yellow code of heat is targeting Crişana, Maramureş, most of Moldova and Transylvania and northern Dobrogea. Only five counties and the coast are not affected by heat.
