Deleting offers and misery discovered by Piedone in the controls on the coast: “I take you with the money from your pocket”
Cristian Popescu Piedone and the inspectors of the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) made a series of unexpected checks on the Romanian coast, where they discovered several serious irregularities in stores and accommodation units in Constanța and Năvodari: living and death insects, deceitful offers and serious deficiencies.

Among the problems identified by ANPC commissioners are rusty and dirty refrigerated windows, improper temperatures in the refrigeration aggregates, but also prices displayed. In some cases, the price at the shelf did not correspond to the one from the cash register, which irritated the former mayor of Sector 5.
“Don't look after offers anymore! I take you with the money from your pocket! A price price, a house price. There are no offers, there is only deception!”, said Piedone.
The ANPC chief challenged and the misery found in some places: “As far as the mother -in -law sees, here we do not give up!”, he said, emphasizing that the less visible places were more dirty than those in the sight of customers.

Irregularities found in stores
Within the coastal command 2025, on July 4, 2025, there were more checks in several units in Constanța that operate under the logo: Profi (Năvodari), Mega Image, Lidl. The main identified irregularities:
• deviations regarding compliance with the refrigeration chain;
• At the product presentation window, a temperature of 12 ° C was measured, although the manufacturer indicates a storage range between 0-4 ° C or maximum 7 ° C, which compromises the safety of the food exposed;
• the temperature graphs of the refrigerated aggregates were not completed, preventing the correct monitoring of the storage conditions;
• inappropriate storage;
• the eggs were stored together with other food products, contrary to the norms regarding the neighborhood of the products;
• In the storage spaces were identified spider webs, thick layers of dust, product agglomerations and non -observance of the neighborhood criteria;
• serious hygiene deficiencies;
• in the pastry/bakery area, the equipment trays and keys were not sanitized;
• Several refrigerated aggregates had areas of rust, presence of living insects and death and excess mold;
• at the hot mass, the water used to maintain the preparations at optimum temperature contained impurities, endangering the health of consumers;
• commercial and information irregularities;
• differences of caliber have been identified within the consumer, for example: peaches labeled as having 35+ mm, but in reality only 25 mm;
• in the sales spaces were fruits and vegetables depreciated, with mechanical blows, soft consistency or signs of dehydration;
• deceitful promotions have been found, such as “5+1” offers for beer, without the reference product being available;
• Some products did not mention the country of origin, essential information for consumers.
The accommodations, away from the minimum hygiene standards
Also in the control, ANPC ordered the temporary closure of four accommodation units from the seaside resorts: Vila M – SC Eurocons SRL, Profi Room Service – Năvodari, Belamobest SRL – Vila Păun, Hostel at Gerald SRL.
They had mattresses and stained linens, and the general hygiene conditions were cataloged as precarious.
The action is part of a large verification campaign carried out by ANPC on the coast.
